Who says children aren’t in charge? Each year on the first Sunday of May, Downtown Portsmouth becomes headquarters for children of all ages with the celebration of Children’s Day. An estimated 5,000+ “children” visit Portsmouth to take part in an afternoon of fun on the Seacoast.

Walk, cheer, and make a glorious noise with us as Portsmouth’s many and varied community neighborhoods and organizations bring new life to our old streets with marching bands, soldiers, VIPs, floats, dancers, and submarines (you’ll know they’re there when you don’t see them) - out of the past, through the present, and into the future!
June 3 | 97.5 WOKQ Annual ChowderFest at Prescott Park | Portsmouth NH
Join in the fun of the Chowder Festival with some of your favorite local restaurants serving-up mouthwatering chowder in Prescott Park, and vote for your favorite to win the coveted People’s Choice Award and take home the Golden Ladle. Check out the complimentary live music, kid-friendly activities, and grab an ice cream from the Prop!
June 3 | Piscataqua RiverFest at Strawbery Banke | Portsmouth NH
Piscataqua Riverfest is a traditional boat show of stunning wooden boats on the grounds of Strawbery Banke featuring maritime demonstrations for all ages, an artisan craft show, food trucks & beer garden, musical performances, and family fun activities such as face painting, boat races and a puppet show.
